While we're on the subject...

I think that transformers animation is phenomenal, but it can only be outdone by what I like to call, "Pan you dig it?" Amazingly, this was done with absolutely no motion capture...just some in-depth study of the "King of Pop" and Tony Manero.

Not cool man!!

Have you ever seen a more blatant act of senseless vandalism? I think this car is cursed actually. It has been keyed twice and now this. Ginny definitely does not deserve this! Nobody does...

I guess the good side is that we've been hesitant to get the key marks fixed for a while and since the graffiti is on the same side, it's a no-brainer.

We just spent a half hour scraping off the n-word, as if driving it around with "Go Home" wasn't enough.

Round 2

stoliStrawberry_sm
Originally uploaded by chipballs.
As promised, Koa and I actually tested the Strawberry Stoli against the power of the Brita water filter. Although the vodka became slightly watered down, it did produce remarkable results by removing almost all of the strawberry flavor.

Looks like I will only be buying Wolfschmidt Vodka ($10 for 1.75L) from now on, which is made in Tustin, CA by the way.

Wicked Cold

Last weekend, Ginny and I took a little excursion to BeanTown. Although we did not actually make it into the city, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Our friends Jeremy and Heidiwelcomed us into their home and took care of us over the MLK holiday weekend.

Upon arriving, Jeremy posed the question, "What do you want to do first?" I replied, "Take me to the liquor store so we can get supplies for the weekend." Not wantingto disappoint, Jeremy took us on a 30 minute excursion to find the Bunhole Liquor.

Is this place for real? Considering we used to frequent Liquor Box in La Jolla, I had no doubt that this was legit.

So we strolled in and took inventory. To my surprise, this was a full-fleged liquor store with all the fixin's. From Boone's Strawberry Hill to Pabst Blue Ribbon, you couldn't get more quality than this.

Remembering a little experiement I saw online, I decided to try filtering some cheap vodka to see if it would improve the taste. Several sources have generated similar outcomes to this experiment so I thought, "What the hell."

We stocked up on some really cheap vodka, as well as some rum for later. It was the first time I've ever heard a liquor store employee say, "Is that going to be enough for the four of you?" ...like wow.

So now you're wondering what the experiment entails...

Basically, you filter cheap vodka through a brita water filter (we did it 5 times) and see if you can tell the difference. As you can see, Bunhole Liquor makes their own vodka.

After finally comparing the filtered vodka to Grey Goose, we were thinking about rebottling it as "Clean tasting, extremely good tasting, Bunghole Liquor Vodka."

Yeah, it was really good...especially compared to the original. Don't worry, Jeremy has a PhD in Marine Biology so he is hip to the Scientific Method. Aside from actually forming a legit hypothesis, we tried to set up as many controls as possible to limit the variation.

Our own contributor Kojak, is a firm believer in solidifying results by re-experimentation, so I think we will try the experiment again during the Pats/Steelers game tomorrow.

Speaking of the Pats, Jeremy surprised me once again with tix to the Pats game on Sunday. Aside fromthe fact that we all thought the game would be a little closer (including Vegas),it was the most fun I've had at a football game. West coasters just don't understandthe intensity of football until they witness a snowy game at the Razor in Foxboro. I think the only game I have yet to witness, before I die, would be a Super Bowl on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. You all know the result of the game,so I thought I'd give you some insight into what to wear for a game in 20°F or -7°C.

Matt's
outfit:

Waterproof Boots
Thin Dress Sock

Wool Sock

Long silk underwear
Flannel pajama bottoms

Jeans
Undershirt

2 long-sleeve t-shirts

wool sweater
wool hoodie
ski jacket
knit beanie
ski gloves with liners

And you know what, I was still cold!!!
But it was totally worth it.

Jeremy bundled up, ready for the start of the game.

State of the Blog Address...Week 1

Well, the blog has officially been up and running for 1 week. Upon returning from Boston last night (post to follow) I expected to see some new entries from the contributors. All I can say is, "What the hell?"

I guess Boo has an excuse since he did not technically ask to be a contributor. But Kojak? And what happened to Grace?

Ahh, that's ok. I know you all look up to me for leadership, so I will just have to take the reigns and giddyup (sp?).

MattandGinny.com

The site is officially up and ready for abuse.

If you don't like anything I will just say, "Ginny made me do it."

Here is a glimpse at the save the date in case you didn't get one or threw it out.

By the way, make sure you are going to mattandginny.com NOT matthewandginny.com. My brother, Steve, brought it to my attention that there is another coulple out there named matt and ginny. We won't let this spoil our fun though because we are obviously older and could kick their asses...nah just kidding.

It smells a lot like almonds...

When searching through some random photos, I came across some party pics. These three seem to be having a good time until you realize that Koa is in some serious agony. I don't think it's because RoRo is humping his girlfriend, but that something happened to his thumb.

What the hell?

Asians don't eat pancakes!!!

My first post on Asian-ness

I totally stole this recipe from Giant Robot, because I think you guys will appreciate it. It's for a Japanese food dish that looks like a pancake, but eats like a meal. I know what you are thinking...a bunch of fried flour and egg that you dip in syrup so that you can make excuses for eating dessert at breakfast. WRONG!

What we have here is a meal that satisfies; you may equate this one to a "Hungry-Man Dinner."

While this may not look "satisfying," I promise you that this recipe won't disappoint.

Ingred.
1/4 head of cabbage, chopped
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup water
1 egg
katsu sauce
mayo

Directions
1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Add any other ingredients including meat, veggies (corn is good), seafood, etc. Use some leftovers for an added "iron chef" quality.
2. Heat oiled pan on med.-low (very important because you don't want to burn the thing...it's a slow cooker). Pour in the batter and add some cooked sliced meat to the top.
3. Cook for about 5 minutes until the bottom begins to brown, then flip...meat is now on bottom.
4. Cook until done, and flip onto a plate. Put thin layer of mayo on top (I like thick layer) and drizzle some katsu sauce. If you're feeling fancy, throw some dried fish flakes on top and watch them squirm!

Enjoy

Possible theme for blog?

What do you guys think of this one:

A site about all things Asian by an Asian who looks really Asian but knows very little about Asians...who is marrying an Asian who sort of looks Asian, but who really wants to be Asian, just not look like an Asian...and through this blog perpetuate Asian-ness and further my Asian-ness thereby perpetuating Asian-ness in my future offspring, who will look very Asian.

Oh and you guys could be the non-Asian correspondents that comment on all things Asian, since one of you is dating a full-on Asian, and the other is simply a moron.

Like Wow...

In case all of you have missed y2khai's updates, there is a new 3 part "hiphopumentary". All I can say is, "like wow!"

All about Boosters

I'm 29, retired, and the Super Vad lives on my couch. He secretly rewired our entertainment system late one night and it hasn't been the same since. The good news is Super Vad brings the party with him wherever he goes and I have been liquored every night since his return.

Chipballs is a Putz,

Boosters

Good Morning

In true college fashion, I have undertaken a project beginning at midnight. Will that take me well into the morning hours...who knows. All I know is that this needs to be done and this seems like the best time to do it.

I have undergone this project in hopes that my friends Koa and Boo will assist me on the content. Koa's blog is already defunct and wants someone else to take the fall if this one sucks. Ok by me. And Boo, well he is just a moron with nothing better to do since he retired at 29.
